In the series INVOICE PAINTINGS & NOTES Caro Jost uses printouts of original invoices, handwritten notes or sketches gathered in the archives of her favorite artists. In Jost’s view, these items documenting the production progress, the purchases of paints and materials both register the near-time genesis of important artworks and are finds that function as means of creating artworks of her own. As in her Streetprints (since the year 2000), she seeks out and follows the trails of the more recent past and by conserving and commenting on it, reworking and alienating it, she brings it forward to our day.
